Our goal for this Austin-specific page is to provide a forum for conversation about early stage ideas and opportunities within this particular metropolitan area in Texas.  We encourage folks to ask questions, provide feedback on our events and generally comment on early stage entrepreneurial activity in their area.  We look forward to hearing from you.

AVEH’ers may have noticed that we are experimenting with a new location for our second event in Austin. Trianon is appealing because it has the laid back atmosphere of a coffee shop, but also a semi-private space that makes everyone (including other patrons) a bit more comfortable. Do you have a recommendation for a similar spot? We would love to hear it…

Great session, guys. Really appreciate your insight and guidance on the business model and specific marketing tactics for http://www.Loanables.com. I look forward to working with the AV team more in the future.

Thanks for joining us Ryan. We enjoyed the behind the scenes look at your project. It’s entrepreneurs like you that are adding momentum to Austin’s consumer web movement. Long known as an enterprise software town, Austin is under seige by the next generation of entrepreneurs focusing on web applications and gaming.

  3. Thanks very much for putting on this event, it was very valuable. For future events, it would be helpful to the entrepreneur to share who from AV will be attending so they can do their homework.

    Take care,

    Louis

I think that is a very reasonable request, and probably one I should have thought about in advance. For future reference, I think it is safe to say that Mike Dodd, Russ Lemmer and I (Dan Doman) will typically be present. Depending on schedules we will do our best to pull in another partner when possible.

Thank you all for having this session and inviting us to participate. My questions may have seemed odd to you but I was asking for effect (your reactions) more than for new information, and I got that. I’m sure you’ve worked longer days, but 8 previous interviews obvious had an understandable impact on you. I agree with Louis’ comment in that we took some of our time explaining background info instead of zooming on on the one person with HC background.

Thanks for the feedback Don. As for Prista, we hope you guys are on to something. There is no question that there is a lot of opportunity for solid businesses within Healthcare, especially in Healthcare IT. There has been a mad scramble towards the space of late (especially with the goals of the current administration), but despite this enthusiasm/froth, good companies solving real legacy problems have an opportunity to do very well. Good luck to you guys.

  5. Once again it was a pleasure to converse with the AV team. This was our second AVEH meeting and the feedback was just as relevant and insightful. We come out of these short sessions with new ideas, areas of opportunity and specific next steps. It’s really a great opportunity for Austin entrepreneurs.

From a logistics perspective, Trianon was a more convenient location although the back room sure got an overload of late-afternoon sun/heat. Let’s get them to install some blinds for the next one. :)

Brian/Becky – keep executing and tinkering with customer acquisition. We look forward to monitoring your progress.

Oh yeah, we are open to coffee house suggestions. Our only request is that we can find a semi-private nook to hang out for 8 hours.
